To evaluated whether and how cytokines secreted by NK cells participate pulmonary cavitation in TB progression, we analyzed mRNA expression levels of TNF-α, interferon gamma (IFN-γ), interleukin 12 (IL-12), IL-22, granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), NKp30, NKp44, NKp46, granulysin, perforin, granzyme A, and granzyme B in NK cells by RT-qPCR (Figure 2(a)).
