ACE2 expression has been demonstrated in endothelial cells from arterial and venous vessels [5], and there is clear-cut evidence that endothelial cells can acquire SARS-CoV-2 infection [19], with development of endotheliitis, endothelial cell damage, systemic vasculitis, and disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC). The gene discussed is ACE2; the disease is necrotizing vasculitis.
