By contrast, selective knockout of GPR17 primarily in oligodendrocytes provided protection from high fat diet-induced obesity (11) and knocking out GPR17 in pro-opiomelanocortin neurons attenuated the metabolic effects of high fat diet on body weight and adiposity, most noticeably in female mice (12).
