Fragile X-associated tremor/ataxia syndrome (FXTAS) is a late-onset inherited degenerative disorder due to a CGG repeat expansion in the premutation range (55–200) in the 5′ untranslated region of the FMRP translational regulator 1 (FMR1) gene [1]. Here, FMR1 is linked to fragile X-associated tremor/ataxia syndrome.
