When all participants who reported doctor diagnosis of previous myocardial infarction, stroke, or coronary heart disease were dropped from the analysis (n = 324 with one of more of these conditions), the ORs were essentially unchanged: adjusted OR for depression unstratified = 3.44 (95% CI: 2.20, 5.40), CRP < 8 mg/L = 3.21 (95% CI: 1.83, 5.63), and CRP ≥ 8 mg/L = 6.97 (95% CI: 2.69, 18.08) with all ORs significant at p ≤ 0.05 (results not reported in tabular form). Here, CRP is linked to depressive symptom measurement.
