Currently, the well-established mechanisms for the NLRP3 inflammasome activation include intracellular ion flux (such as K+ efflux [21], Ca2+ flux [28], Na+ flux [21] and Cl− efflux [29]), mitochondrial damage [20,26], Golgi disassembly [30], lysosomal disruption [31] and metabolic disorder [11,32]. This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and metabolic disease.
