Bai et al., in a meta-analysis of 226 studies with 13,526 MS patients and 8428 healthy controls, showed that 13 CSF cytokines are significantly associated with MS, and among them, CCL21, IL-15, CCL19, CCL11, CCL3, and CXCL13 showed larger standardized mean differences (measured as ES parameter or effective sizes differences between groups with statistical significance) in cytokine concentrations between MS patients and healthy controls [62]. This evidence concerns the gene CCL3 and myeloid sarcoma.
