Though the precise mechanisms are yet to be discovered, two snoRNAs that are upregulated in hepatocellular carcinomas (HCCs), SNORA11 and SNORD126, both increase PI3K/AKT signaling, with SNORA11 knockdown inducing cell cycle arrest and suppressing the proliferation, migration, and invasion of cell lines and decreasing HCC growth in an animal model [117,118]. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
