To test the hypothesis that ovarian cancer cells might upregulate FAO in response to HSP27 inhibition, similar to prostate cancer cells that have been shown to upregulate FAO in response to HSP90 inhibition [37], co-treatment of ivermectin and cisplatin increased the levels of phosphorylated AMP kinase (at its T172 residue), a master regulator of FAO [39], compared to the cisplatin-only treated controls in A2780CIS cells as well as in A2780 and ES2 cells cultured on COL11A1 (Figure 6C,D and Figure S4A). This evidence concerns the gene COL11A1 and Familial prostate cancer.
