The serum and plasma samples of patients with identified colon cancer were also separated by stage for additional analysis after finding that galectins-1, -3, and -9 were increased in the serum and plasma of colon cancer patients included in this study (p < 0.0001, p < 0.0001, and p = 0.0005, respectively), as seen in Figure 1A,B,E.
