TAMs have been reported to promote the escape of primary tumor cells into the circulation by secreting epidermal growth factor-1 (EGF-1), TGF-β, IL-6, IL-10, and TNF-α, which promotes EMT, and enhances the stemness of cancer cells, ultimately increasing invasiveness and migration into surrounding vasculature (for review, [58,59]). The gene discussed is IL6; the disease is neoplasm.
