Exosomal miRNAs from melanoma cells exposed to IH differ in their cargo and effects on innate immune cells such as macrophages, and such differences are reflected by the melanoma cell type, with STK11-related pathways emerging as operational contributors to the altered melanoma phenotype induced by IH in vitro and by OSA in vivo. This evidence concerns the gene STK11 and obstructive sleep apnea syndrome.
