Ddx3x encodes for an evolutionarily conserved DEAD-box RNA helicase involved in a multiplicity of fundamental cellular processes, including transcription, splicing, mRNA transport, translation, and regulation of the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway [69–71]; mutations in this gene have been reported in different types of cancer and associated with intellectual disability [72]. The gene discussed is DDX56; the disease is cancer.
