c-KIT is a tyrosine kinase receptor and can be targeted by numerous tyrosine kinase inhibitors used as anti-cancer drugs such as imatinib, sunitinib, sofrafenib, which bind and inhibit Bcr-abl fusion protein tyrosine kinase and are currently being used in CML (51), gastro-intestinal cancers and in thymic carcinoma (52). Here, KIT is linked to chronic myelogenous leukemia, BCR-ABL1 positive.
