Many neuroinflammatory diseases, such as ischemic injury, subarachnoid hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury (TBI), Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and Parkinson’s disease (PD) are characterized by activation of the cGAS-STING pathway and expression of type I IFNs and inflammatory cytokines which underscore pathological progression. This evidence concerns the gene STING1 and Alzheimer disease.
