Numerous studies (Yan et al., 2010; Wang et al., 2012; Tao et al., 2013; Yan et al., 2017) have indicated that salvianolic acid B exerts significant anti-hepatic fibrosis effects through the following mechanisms: inhibiting the activation of HSCs by downregulating the TGF-β1/SMAD signaling pathway, protecting hepatocytes from apoptosis via inhibiting death receptor pathway, and stabilizing the mitochondrial membrane and regulating NF-κB/IκBα signaling pathway. Here, TGFB1 is linked to Hepatic fibrosis.
