There is a large family of inflammasomes defined by different sensor proteins, and especially the NLRC4 (NLR family, CARD domain containing 4), AIM2 (absent in melanoma 2), and NLRP3 (NLR family, pyrin domain containing 3) inflammasomes have been shown to be associated with AIS [31–34]. This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and androgen insensitivity syndrome.
