TNF and periodontitis: Infliximab showed significant anti‐inflammatory and bone‐protective effects in a Wistar rat model with experimentally induced periodontitis, as it reduced gingival IL‐1β, TNF‐α, and myeloperoxidase levels, and also diminished MMP‐1/‐8, receptor activator of nuclear factor κB (RANK), and RANK‐Ligand (RANKL) bone immunolabeling compared with the control group (Gonçalves et al., 2014).
