They found that while conventionally fractionated radiation (36Gy in 18 fractions) induced a myeloid response dominated by myeloid derived suppressor cells (MDSC) and type 2 tumor associated macrophages (TAM 2), highly hypo-fractionated radiation (either 16.4Gy in 1 fraction or 24Gy in 3 fractions) induced a lymphoid response dominated by CD8+ T-cells and regulatory T cells.
