It is already well-known for decades that the deposition of amyloid-beta (Aβ) protein in senile plaques outside neurons and the formation of neurofibrillary tangles (NFT) composed of hyperphosphorylated Tau (p-Tau) protein inside neurons result in the loss of synapses and neurodegeneration which ultimately leads to symptoms associated with AD [12].
