The current FDA-labeled indications for albumin are acute respiratory distress syndrome, cirrhotic ascites, erythrocyte resuspension, hypovolemia, neonatal hemolytic disease, and adjunct treatment for nephrosis in combination with diuretics.1 Albumin is also included in the Surviving Sepsis campaign for patients that are hypovolemic that require large volumes of crystalloids [6,7]. Here, ALB is linked to nephrosis.
