Specifically, mutation of the scn1lab gene, the ortholog of which is associated with Dravet’s syndrome of childhood epilepsy and autism, causes fish to swim in a more dispersed fashion, and a mutation of disc1, associated with schizophrenia, causes fish to huddle more closely. This evidence concerns the gene DISC1 and encephalopathy, progressive, early-onset, with brain edema and/or leukoencephalopathy.
