Furthermore, in MetS, the catalytic subunits of the highly conserved methyltransferase complex, methyltransferase-like 3, METTL3 (p = 0.004) and methyltransferase-like 14, METTL14 (p = 0.019) as well as the regulatory subunits Wilms tumor suppressor-1, WTAP (p = 0.050), VIRMA (p = 0.033), and RNA-binding protein 15, RBM15 (p ≦ 0.016) are all noticeably increased in MetS (Fig. 6b). Here, METTL14 is linked to metabolic syndrome.
