Based on this hypothesis, a holistic approach to treatment is encouraged to involve the use of drugs that may have beneficial effects on bone as well as on CVD, probably through targeting MMP-9, which was further investigated in this study, where alendronate attenuated CVS risk factors namely dyslipidaemia and inflammation and where carvedilol also exerted a bone preservative role in accordance with their respective effect on MMP-9. Here, MMP9 is linked to inherited lipid metabolism disorder.
