The RT-PCR bands (Figure 4(a)) revealed that the mRNA levels of PI3K and Akt in NPC cells rose markedly in the overexpression group (∗p < 0.05, ∗p < 0.05) but declined obviously in the siRNA group (#p < 0.05, #p < 0.05) compared with those in the control group (Figure 4(b)), illustrating that siRNA S100A8/S100A9 can inhibit the levels of PI3K and Akt in the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. The gene discussed is AKT1; the disease is nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
