Given that catecholamine surges play an important role in a broad spectrum of diseases, including stress cardiomyopathy that has been intimately associated with the physical and emotional stress resulting from the current COVID-19 pandemic (10–13), the present study provides a serendipitous and yet strong support for targeting RIPK1 and RIPK3 to treat COVID-19. The gene discussed is RIPK3; the disease is psychosocial stress measurement.
