NFKB1 and cancer: BET and NF-κB signaling. The nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) transcription factor family plays a critical role in inflammation and cancer, consisting of five different DNA-binding proteins that form a variety of homo- or heterodimers: p50 (also known as NF-κB1), p52 (also known as NF-κB2), p65 (also known as RelA), cRel and RelB (Ghosh and Hayden, 2008; Fullerton and Gilroy, 2016; Campbell et al., 2021).
