DRD2 is a well-established psychiatric risk gene, and has shown robust association with multiple psychiatric disorders, including schizophrenia (Ikeda et al., 2018), MD (Howard et al., 2019), alcohol dependence (Zhou et al., 2020), and various mental health measures, such as neuroticism (Nagel et al., 2020), well-being (Baselmans et al., 2019), and cigarette smoking (Liu et al., 2019). This evidence concerns the gene DRD2 and alcohol dependence.
