IL6 and coronary artery disorder: The main findings were: (i) pooled results indicated a significant association of -174 G/C polymorphism with CAD; however, the effect was driven by studies with participants belonging to Asian and Asian Indian ancestries; (ii) other major ancestries, including European and Middle Eastern displayed no evidence of such association; (iii) ‘C allele’ carriers, at least amongst CAD free controls seem to have significantly higher levels of circulating IL-6, which in part explains the association of this SNP with CAD.
