All pituitary adenomas are divided into the three following lineages: lactotroph, somatotroph, and thyrotroph belong to PIT-1 (pituitary-specific TF 1), corticotroph belongs to T-PIT (pituitary cell-restricted factor), and gonadotroph belongs to SF-1 (steroidogenic factor 1). The gene discussed is SF1; the disease is pituitary gland adenoma.
