It has been shown that overexpression of miR-27a was associated with high cell proliferation and metastasis in gastric cancer cells through mediating suppression of PH domain and leucine-rich repeat protein phosphatase 2 (PHLPP2) leading to stimulation of the AKT/GSK3B pathway (Ding et al., 2017).
