In the current study with patient materials, however, we found that numbers of S100A7+ tumor cells, as well as CD163+ cells, located at the border, were positively correlated with MFS (Supplementary Fig. 11) and (low) frequencies of CD8+ T cells, arguing that recruitment of these myeloid cells is part of a negative-feedback loop that follows an initial immune response. The gene discussed is CD8A; the disease is neoplasm.
