There are exceptions, however, as public TCRs that target a single neoantigen have been demonstrated in response to the common KRAS exon 12 G12D mutation in colorectal cancer and can be leveraged for adoptive T cell therapy.28 In future studies, it will be important to distinguish between immune responses to infections and cancer development and to identify neoantigen recognition in specific HLA contexts as this may be relevant for immunoprevention.29 Here, KRAS is linked to cancer.
