Regarding laboratory investigations of HCC cases, 81.7% showed elevated aspartate transaminase (AST) (Above 42 IU/L), 85% showed a decreased platelet count (less than 150 × 109/L), 66.7% showed low serum albumin (less than 35 g/L), 71.7% showed elevated total bilirubin (more than 17 μmol/L), 50% showed elevated AFP (above 200 ng/mL), 70% were positive for HCV Ab and 33.3% were positive for HBs Ag (Table 2). Here, AFP is linked to hepatocellular carcinoma.
