Similarly, our findings reveal that adenine decreases the expression of the EMT inducers Snail and Twist, inhibits the FAK/Src/paxillin cascade, and downregulates the MMP9 expression in DLD-1 cells, indicating that adenine may exert its antimetastatic activity by downregulating integrin and inhibiting the FAK/Src/paxillin axis, thereby suppressing EMT and MMP9 expression in CRC cells. This evidence concerns the gene TWIST1 and colorectal carcinoma.
