Therefore, in the present study, we tested whether the CaSR has pro- or anti-inflammatory effects, by using positive (NPS 568) and negative (NPS 2143) allosteric modulators of the CaSR and comparing their effects on the expression of the inflammation marker interleukin 8 (IL-8), as several studies suggested that activation of the CaSR leads to the inhibition of IL-8 secretion in colon cancer cells (as reviewed in [6]). This evidence concerns the gene CASR and colonic neoplasm.
