Fluoxetine was able to decrease cell proliferation and induce autophagic cell death by inhibiting eEF2K and activating the 5′-AMP-activated protein kinase-mammalian target of rapamycin-Unc-51-like autophagy activating kinase (AMPK-mTOR-ULK) complex in breast cancer cell lines, especially MDA-MB-231 and MDA-MB-436. Here, MTOR is linked to breast carcinoma.
