This is consistent with studies of other fungal pathogens that do not require Yap1 for infecting their hosts (e.g., B. cinerea, Fusarium graminearum, and Cochliobolus heterostrophus), but in contrast to other fungi where Yap1 is indispensable for successful infection (e.g., Ustilago maydis, M. oryzae, and Alternaria alternata) [31,33,35,38,70,71].
