From the 31 selected repurposed compounds, remdesivir (a nucleoside analog, see Appendix A), valrubicin (an anthracycline used intravesically in the treatment of BCG-resistant bladder carcinoma; DrugBank), aprepitant (a substance P/neurokinin 1 receptor antagonist used to treat nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy and surgery; DrugBank), and fulvestrant (an estrogen receptor antagonist used to treat HR+ breast cancer that may also be HER2-; DrugBank) were identified as potential COVID-19 protease inhibitors. This evidence concerns the gene TAC1 and COVID-19.
