Balla et al. [56], in a post hoc analysis of the Rivaroxaban Once Daily Oral Direct Factor Xa Inhibition Compared with Vitamin K Antagonism for Prevention of Stroke and Embolism Trial in Atrial Fibrillation (ROCKET AF) trial, found a reduced risk of stroke for obese patients with a BMI of ≥35 compared to that of normal-weight patients in both the rivaroxaban and warfarin groups, supporting the obese paradox hypothesis. This evidence concerns the gene F10 and atrial fibrillation.
