A previous study on the ankyrin repeat domain in PD reported that ankyrin repeats and the anti-tumorigenic BTB/POZ domain-containing protein-2 (BPOZ-2) inhibit α-syn aggregation in 1-methyl-4-phenylpyridinium-stimulated dopaminergic neurons in an MPTP mouse model of PD [28]. This evidence concerns the gene ABTB1 and Parkinson disease.
