Palmitic acid was implicated in the pathogenesis of human IBD [46], and its role in intestinal health has been discussed, this fatty acid having been implicated as a ligand of Toll-like receptors (TLR4) [47], whereas down- or upregulation of TLR expressions are found in different canine CE conditions [48,49]. The gene discussed is TLR4; the disease is inflammatory bowel disease.
