HMGB1 and colorectal cancer: Although HMGB1 over-expression is extensively associated to cancer [5] and it has been demonstrated that HMGB1 silencing in colorectal cancer cells slows cell growth, extends the cell proliferation cycle, and significantly inhibits the growth of xenograft tumour in nude mice [6], little is known about the mechanism underlying HMGB1’s role in oncogenesis.
