There is no doubt that women with PCOS suffer from metabolic complications more than their age-matched counterparts in the general population and at an earlier age, as well as having obesity, low SHBG, hyperandrogenemia, insulin resistance (IR), and hyperinsulinemia that are risk factors for, and early predictors of, metabolic complications in PCOS [7,8,9]. This evidence concerns the gene SHBG and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
