The NLRP3 inflammasome can sense numerous danger signals and contribute to sterile neuroinflammation in multiple neurological diseases, including β-amyloid plaques and tau fibrillary tangles, which trigger the NLRP3 signaling pathway in the brains of rodent models of Alzheimer’s disease [42,43]. Here, NLRP3 is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
