In a study of Parkinson’s Disease, miR-182-5p and miR-183-5p were shown to mediate neuroprotection of dopaminergic (DA) neurons in vitro and in vivo by down-regulating the expression of FOXO3 and FOXO1 and enhancing PI3K-Akt signaling [68]. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and Parkinson disease.
