EGF and neoplasm: Consequently, since EGF promotes tumor progression, and since there are very different study results on the effect of EGF on liver regeneration, intensive preclinical investigations should be conducted on the potential application of EGF in clinical practice since its effects on liver regeneration are dependent on the type of liver surgery (PH versus LT) and the type of the liver (steatotic versus non-steatotic liver); studies on the different drugs or interventions used to either inhibit or activate the effects of EGF are also necessary.
