Sex moderated the effect of maternal anxiety during third trimester on DNA methylation levels; i.e., we observed significant interaction effects of sex on the association between maternal anxiety during the third trimester and DNA methylation level of IGF2/H19-CpG1, 4, and 6, explaining 5.4% (Table 3), 6.1% (Table 4), and 5.9% (Table 5) of the variance, respectively.
