The NLRP3 inflammasome is regarded as an important initiator in diverse human diseases, including type 2 diabetes (T2D), gout, obesity, atherosclerosis, neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, and inflammatory diseases, and has been suggested as a potential target for the treatment of these diseases [34,35,36,37,38]. This evidence concerns the gene NLRP3 and neurodegenerative disease.
