IL5 and atherosclerosis: For example, the modification increased macrophage phagocytosis and decreased the expression of a large number of atherosclerosis‐associated genes in vitro, reduced plaque content of macrophages and CD3+ T lymphocytes in vivo, and produced a trend toward increase in plasma levels of the anti‐inflammatory cytokine IL‐5 (Figures 3, 6, and 7, Tables 1 and 2).
